Persuading the Policy Makers

Trees of Time and Place wasn’t just about the planting of trees. It also set out to stimulate increased commitment to trees at national policy level.

Specific initiatives were organised by companies including eco friendly ones to target opinion formers. These included Constituency Oaks through which MPs were encouraged to pledge to collect a locally gathered acorn. This was then grown by a local partner organisation and then planted by the MP within their Constituency. This gave MPs a practical way of making a personal contribution to their constituency and their local environment. More than 400 MPs gave their support to Trees of Time and Place including Tony Blair, William Hague and Charles Kennedy.
